Porto Corallo, Italy
2018

  • A port is where land meets the sea. Along Porto Corallo’s meandering coastline, this occurs in many distinct ways — each place suggesting its own activities.

Taking cues from the landscape, the proposal creates a series of rhythmic experiences that alternate between solitary recreation and collective gathering. Five dense zones reinvigorate Porto Corallo; the spaces between these nodes are left untouched, serving as links.

A well-defined network of streets opens to the harbour, where visitors can rent boats. The intervention is minimal and draws on the village’s existing patterns — a recomposed waterfront that encourages people to linger, sit in solitude, and socialise.
