The challenge is to design an urban park that can double as an informal vegetable market in the heart of New Delhi, along Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road.

The linear site is conceived as a seamless promenade with an elevated walkway. Its configuration is bent, punctured and aligned to protect the existing tree cover.  At the ground level it will accommodate a host of functions like vegetable market, craft shops and temporary housing for farmers coming to sell their vegetable products.

It is the antithesis of a public project that envisages creation of a stand-alone building within the site to house the market.
